Beck's image has had quite a busy summer. His website is totally redone, and with it, comes The Record Club, which is basically Beck getting some friends-in-bands together to cover entire albums. First up, the culture classic Velvet Underground and Nico.

***FABRIZIO's band Little Joy (also consisting of Rodrigo Amarante and Binki Shapiro) is mapping out plans to do another tour of the U.S., after just returning from Europe and Brazil earlier this year. the band will be touring without Fabrizio this time around, however, as he'll be busy with The Strokes and their aforementioned rehearsal sessions back in NYC. But Rodrigo and Binki will be soldiering forward with Little Joy while Fab takes care of his business back in NYC.... though you never can be sure when Fabrizio might make a "cameo appearance" on the road with the band.

I'm Blogging in Fake Ray Bans

I don't like Passion Pit or Glasvegas. I've known about both bands for awhile and they both are making everyone's "Big in 09" lists. Maybe I will appreciate them more later this year if someone gives me their torrents. But since I'm hardcore iTunes doesn't look like that's happening.

In other news I finally downloaded the LP Surfing by Megapuss, another Fab (from The Strokes and Little Joy) band. It's pretty good, but after a certain point it's hard to tell the songs apart. The beginning is very fun but the songs become slow and similar for the majority. So if you're going to download on track-by-track, get these:

Above, the video for Adam & Steve. Styled like M83, with the skeleton guys and costuming. Fab is the only one who's dressed normally. I think I laughed all the way through this. Nick Valensi's in there too soloing on the car - I don't think he's cut his hair in years! Binki from LJ also makes an appearance.

Last Night: Little Joy

"Look! It's Fab from The STROOOOKES!"

This was pretty cool. My friend and I ended up waiting around for awhile waiting for them to show up but it was well worth it. They sound great live. The band played the typical in-store set of 7 or so songs. The album is actually very good, it's one of those you can listen to over and over without getting bored.

Get. This. Album. It's short and just quiet enough. Not much of a review, but I highly endorse it.
