Panda Bear's Sophomore LP: Tomboy

Noah Lennox, also known as Panda Bear from Animal Collective, has revealed the title to his mysterious second LP. The disc, titled Tomboy, is the follow-up to 2007's indie favorite Person Pitch.

The record is due to hit shelves this September and will be released on Paw Tracks, Animal Collective's label.

Country Flip/News in Brief

The Strokes are making a comeback appearance as a full group next year in June at the Isle of Wight Festival in England!

SXSW 2010 initial band listing is up on Stereogum, which includes our friends from London, Good Shoes. Their new LP No Hope, No Future comes out next month.

Animal Collective's Fall Be Kind EP is up and out digitally. Standout track "What Would I Want? Sky" is really fantastic and pretty straightforward for AC. Great hooks and lyrics, as usual. They're just not as buried. [hypem]

Pitchfork: Fall Be Kind is an EP, right?

Dave Portner: Yeah. It's like 28 minutes long, five songs. The title is kind of a play on "fall behind," when you move the clocks back. Everything seems to be very seasonal or weather-oriented for us this year. I wanted to keep it a little bit in line with that. It felt like Merriweather Post Pavilion was really springy or summery. We always try and push for our releases to come out at a specific time. It didn't really happen with Merriweather, unfortunately, but that's because we just really wanted to get that one out quickly. But with this one, we were hoping it would come out in the fall, so Fall Be Kind. I think digitally it's probably going to come out in the middle of November, with a pre-order kind of thing for vinyl or CD for the beginning of December.

New Animal Collective LP?

A mysterious page has appeared on amazon.com...a pre-order for (supposedly) Animal Collective's second full length for this year, "Fall Be Kind".
Release date, December 8th.

They're also re-releasing 2003's "Campfire Songs" in January on Paw Tracks.

?????????

taste

We'll feel sublime.

Am I really all the things that are outside of me?
Would I complete myself without the things I like around?
Does the music that I make play on my awkward face?
Do you appreciate the subtleties of taste buds?

My friend and me were having laughs
In a living room filled with arts and crafts
He said "I like their clothes and their charming ways,
But what I really want is a simple place,
With no fashion clothes 'cause you can eat those"

Only Ma'd pretend to like the clothes you showed to me,
Something in my heart can tell me it's a weakness,
And maybe you will have more luck playing those tasty games,
But me, I called and called and never heard from her again.

She's too good to share our favorite things,
I'll keep an open mind if you let me in.
Don't let your temper rise, don't get a bitter face.
Try not to judge me on my kind of taste.
And don't go changing clothes when they don't like yours.

Am I really all the things that are outside of me?

BLEED

And I want to walk around with you (x2)

Pictures coming soon for last night's Born Ruffians / Franz Ferdinand gig!

But for now, Animal Collective hits the mainstream on Letterman with some ghost dancers and 'Summertime Clothes',
a standout track from their latest album Merriweather Post Pavilion.

This song is also played in Forever 21..

AC

"What's the day?" "What are you doing?"
"How's your mood?" "How's that song?"
Man it passes right by me, it's behind me, now it's gone

Animal Collective Saved My Life.

Well, maybe they did. I dunno, but they are really good. An important guys to know about, since the are an influence on/share a zeitgeist with similar acts such as MGMT and Born Ruffians. However, they are extremely avant-garde to the point of being unaccessible to an average listener.

Strawberry Jam
was their 2007 release. It's a very fun and well-done album. I hate the word 'catchy' because it's overused, but the songs from SJ will have you humming them long after a few listens.

Their new album Merriweather Post Pavilion just came out yesterday. They're using their voices as instruments more than their previous records. I couldn't even say what their members play usually - some pretty random sounds grace the tracks.

Check them out, listen a few times and then get your opinion.
They're on a huge world tour right now! See the dates on their myspace page.
